SSD Hard Drives
Solid State Hard Drives (or SSD for short) are the latest kind of PC hard drives. Unlike a conventional hard drive a SSD hard drive has no moving parts. Instead of using a rotating ferric platter combined with a moving head (used to write information to it), a SSD hard drive uses solid state memory chips. This means solid state hard drives have a number of advantages over regular hard drives. SSD hard drives are silent, run cooler and perhaps most interestingly, have faster data transfer rates. This means your PC starts boots up when starting up and can be noticeably faster in use when working with large amounts of data.
